Authorities in Illinois are investigating the apparently sudden death of a 7-year-old boy in Lee County.
According to WREX, police were called to a residence in Oregon, Illinois, around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday following a report of a child not breathing in a residence on S. 10th Street.
Police reportedly administered CPR to the boy, which had begun before their arrival, while waiting for an ambulance. The unidentified child was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Lee County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy Thursday while Oregon police continue to investigate the child’s death.
Authorities have not yet provided further information about the death. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
