Three people — one of them a 5-month-old infant — were found shot to death Wednesday in southeastern Arizona in an apparent double-murder suicide, the Cochise County Herald/Review reports.
Sierra Vista police identified the adult victims as Gerardo De La Torre, 47, and Raquel De La Santos De La Torre, 30, and said all three had a single gunshot wound.
A family member found the bodies shortly before noon on Wednesday and alerted police.
Sierra Vista Police spokesman Corporal Scott Borgstadt said that investigators learned that Gerardo De La Torre had cancer, and doctors had told him there was nothing more to be done. A suicide note indicated that the adults “had agreed to a suicide pact, and they were taking the baby with them,” he said.
The two adults each had a single gunshot to the head. The baby was shot in the chest, Borgstadt said.
Borgstadt said no further information would be released until autopsies are completed.
