An Arkansas woman is facing charges after allegedly carrying on a sexual relationship with a minor. She’s now pregnant, according to reports.
ABC 8 reports that on September 29, 2020, a tipster contacted the Paragould police and said they saw 23-year-old Brittni Gray having sex with a 14-year-old child.
Months earlier, in February 2020, the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline received the first tip about Gray, after someone said she was carrying on a sexual relationship with a child. The caller said that child had started living with Gray in her home in Paragould. According to the Paragould Daily Press, the witness who called the abuse hotline and said she also spotted Gray dropping the victim off at his home.
Authorities interviewed a witness in January, who said not only had Gray been in a sexual relationship with the boy for around a year, but that Gray was also pregnant with the boy’s child, Detective Rhonda Thomas wrote in an affidavit. The witness added that the pair planned on fleeing the state.
The affidavit also stated that the victim and Gray were seen on security footage, walking together into a hospital emergency room. Thomas stated that authorities obtained medical records that confirmed Gray was indeed pregnant.
Greene County District Court Judge Daniel Stidham said there was found probable cause to charge Gray. Police arrested Gray on Monday and charged her with one felony count of sexual assault.
Online court records indicate that Gray has since been released from jail on a $50,000 bond. She’s scheduled to return to court on April 23.
