Jury selection may resume Tuesday in the Derek Chauvin murder trial after a delay on Monday regarding a possible additional charge. The former Minneapolis police officer is charged with killing George Floyd, an unarmed man who was arrested on suspicion of using a counterfeit $20 bill at a grocery store.
As KSTP reports, the question of whether to reinstate a third-degree murder charge against Chauvin remains unresolved, and prosecutors reportedly wish to delay jury selection until the matter of the additional charge is decided. But the presiding judge said he will proceed with jury selection Tuesday unless the state appeals court orders him to pause the proceedings.
