Witness testimony in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin will continue on Friday, expected to begin at 9:15 a.m. CT (10:15 a.m. ET).
Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, an unarmed man who died following his arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit bill at a supermarket.
As the Washington Post reports, the then-supervisor for the Minneapolis Police Department’s third precinct testified on Wednesday that Chauvin “could have ended the restraint” of George Floyd sooner. Floyd lost consciousness after Chauvin pressed his knee on his neck for several minutes, and was later pronounced dead.
Prosecutors will continue to call witnesses on Friday.
