Police in Pennsylvania responding to a report of a stabbing discovered the dead body of the suspect’s grandmother, who did not immediately appear to be a victim of the stabbing.
According to PennLive.com, police responded to a residence in the East Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia on Saturday night following reports of a stabbing. Responding officers met a 20-year-old man outside the home who alleged that his brother, 25, had stabbed him. Inside the home, the officers found another 20-year-old male who had been stabbed and was in extremely critical condition. Both victims were taken to a hospital, and their current conditions are not yet known.
The suspect was also inside the home and holding a knife, according to the report. Police barricaded the home when the unidentified man allegedly resisted arrest, and a brief standoff ensued. During the standoff, the suspect appeared to pour a liquid which may have been kerosine on the third floor of the home, apparently in an initial effort to set a fire. The suspect reportedly surrendered before he started a fire.
Once the suspect was disarmed, police searched the home and found the dead body of the suspect’s grandmother, PennLive.com reports. The woman did not have any visible injuries, and it is unclear how long the corpse was in the home. Authorities are reportedly working to determine the woman’s cause of death.
Police have not yet released the names of the suspect or the victims. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
