Authorities in Texas are investigating a grisly discovery inside a southwest Houston home.
According to KTRK, a woman called police at about 3 a.m. Tuesday, saying that she felt uncomfortable entering her home because it looked as though it was burglarized. Officers from the Missouri Police Department responded to the home, where they found a body wrapped in a tarp, behind a couch.
At that point the Missouri City police contacted the Houston Police Department, as the residence is in HPD’s jurisdiction.
Investigators are working to identify the body. According to the report, police are not certain who lives in the home, and if any of them are legal residents. A KTRK broadcast report indicates that squatters may reside there.
Police have not yet identified any suspects, but are working to follow multiple leads. A law enforcement source told KTRK that a 29-year-old man was shot on Sunday night not far from the residence where the body was found. He remains hospitalized in critical condition. It is not yet clear if police believe the two incidents are related.
This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
