An off-duty flight attendant assaulted two on-duty attendants and made terroristic threats on a Los Angeles to Atlanta airline flight Friday night, prompting the Delta Air Lines jet to make an emergency stop in Oklahoma City.
Cell phone video from several passengers shows the chaotic moments in the front of the plane after the captain asked “all strong males to come to the front of the aircraft to handle a problem passenger,” NBC 4 Los Angeles reported.
Police in Oklahoma City searched the plane after the passenger was taken off and found no problems. The plane landed in Atlanta early Saturday morning.
“The next thing I knew, there were people rushing up the to the front, and he started shoving people, and there was this outrageous fight,” Passenger Brannon Nazarian told NBC 4. “He was fighting them back extremely hard. His feet were flying in the air. The flight attendant was — it looked like he had a concussion.”
The Atlanta Journal Constitution said the man was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital after the plane landed. The FBI is handling the investigation.
Delta said the man tried to access the plane’s public address system before he was subdued. The company said that a report by a passenger that he tried to open one of the doors was untrue, according to NBC News.
