A mother in ta New York suburb has been charged with manslaughter after her year-old son died when she left him and his older sibling home alone.
PIX11 said emergency crews were called to the Spring Valley apartment at about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday and found the baby trapped between a bed and the wall, unresponsive.
The Spring Valley Fire Department freed the baby and rushed him to a nearby hospital, police said, but he was pronounced dead there.
WABC identified the 36-year-old mother as Marie Dorleus and said she left the baby and a 6-year-old home alone on Saturday.
It’s not clear how long the children were alone, and police did not describe the baby’s injuries or identify him.
Dorleus was still in custody at the Rockland County Correctional Facility early Monday evening, according to jail records.
