Authorities in Mississippi pulled a submerged vehicle from a body of water just inside the Mississippi state line on Friday and found the body of a woman inside.
The gray Mazda 6 belonged to Courtney Johnson, a Louisiana woman who went missing on Tuesday on her way to meet friends at a casino in Biloxi, WBRZ reported.
The Hancock County sheriff’s office said investigators have not yet confirmed that the body inside the vehicle was Johnson’s.
Deputies said Johnson was last heard from on Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m. when she telephoned a friend while driving along Interstate 12 in Louisiana.
Johnson’s mother told WBRZ that her daughter has multiple sclerosis and can become fatigued.
“There are so many things that run through your mind and you just want to cry but then you just want her to run into your arms. You want her to run into your arms. I do not wish this upon anybody to go through what we are going through,” she said. “This is my one and only child. My one and only child.”
