Infant Boy Found Stabbed to Death in New Orleans’ 7th Ward

A baby boy was stabbed to death early Saturday evening in New Orleans’s Seventh Ward.

New Orleans police said they were called to scene just before 6:30 p.m. on a report of a disturbance. They found the infant “with apparent stab wounds,” and he was declared dead on the scene.

An adult woman was taken from the scene by emergency crews for evaluation.

According to WWL, investigators said they found with woman with the little boy, but it’s not clear if she is connected with him in any way or even lives in the area.

As of late Saturday night, she had not been identified, and police said they considered her a “person of interest” and not a suspect.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy and will identify the victim and provide the cause and manner of death.

There was some disagreement between media outlets about the circumstances in which the baby boy was found. Some said he was found in a bicycle trailer, while others said it was a bicycle basket. Police did not mention either in their release.
