A South Carolina woman is dead after police say she stopped to help a couple with a broken-down car, but the pair allegedly killed her and took her vehicle.
The incident unfolded on Monday after authorities discovered missing 63-year-old Linda W. Robinson on the side of the road in Chester County. Robinson had been reported missing by her family the same say. Family members said she left for a Walmart store and never returned.
According to police, picked up George “Si” Faile and Amber Harris from the highway after she noticed them stranded. The pair then allegedly lured the victim into the woods and killed her, Fox 46 reports, then took her blue van.
“In the end, we’re talking about people who are no stranger to the criminal justice system,” Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey said, adding that Faile was recently released from jail on meth charges, CBS 3 reports.
An autopsy confirmed that the victim died from blunt force trauma. Both Faile and Harris were arrested on Tuesday on murder charges.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Anyone who saw Robinson on August 2 and/or a blue Honda Odyssey van should contact police at 803-581-5131 or 803-385-5433.
“Specifically, we are seeking any witnesses who may have seen Mrs. Robinson on the morning of Monday, August 2nd and/or the blue Honda Odyssey van,” police said. “Homeowners and businesses are asked to review video camera footage and alert law enforcement if this vehicle was seen passing their area anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2nd.”
