A man accused of killing numerous people earlier this month was apparently a YouTube vlogger who ranted about being a “f***ing fat ugly virgin.”
Jake Davison, 22, a crane operator who complained about not getting women, allegedly killed five people, including a 3-year-old girl, in Plymouth, England, on Thursday. Afterward, he turned the gun on himself, causing fatal injuries.
Daily Beast reports that it was “the worst mass shooting in Britain since 2010.” The last incident involving an active shooter happened over a decade ago when taxi driver Derrick Bird killed 12 people in Cumbria.
Prior to the shooting, Davison took to YouTube and expressed admiration for former U.S. president, Donald Trump, while claiming that he was from Arizona, although he had a U.K. accent and no record of ever living in the U.S.
Davison also posted several other YouTube videos and called himself “Professor Waffle.” In most of the videos, he can be heard complaining that he was too ugly and fat to attract women, and hoped that bodybuilding would help him.
“Let’s say I get with a woman my age,” he says. “She’s had a million relationships. Likely been destroyed and broken and torn apart by a fu**ing chad. She’s probably completely incapable of loving anyone like she did when she was 16, 17, 15, when she first got with that fu**ing chad.”
A “Chad” is Internet slang for a stereotypical good-looking and sexually active alpha male.
According to DailyMail, Davison made reference to incels on one of his latest Reddit posts, created a night before the deadly shooting. An incel, known as an “involuntary celibate,” is a male, typically a virgin, who claims he is unable to attract females.
“You wake up and you stare at the wall and you’re thinking um nothing’s changed but I’m still in the same position, same period in life, still a f***ing this, that virgin f***ing fat ugly, what.”
He also referred to himself as “The Terminator,” based on the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.
“I know it’s a movie, but I like to think sometimes that I’m ‘The Terminator.’ Despite reaching almost total system failure, he keeps trying to accomplish his mission.”
Shortly after his last video, Davison carried out the shooting spree. Devon and Cornwall Police haven’t said a lot about the victims, except that some of them may have been related to the suspect and at least one victim was a child.
The incident started when Davison shot a male and female with a pump-action shotgun. Witnesses said they saw Davison kick down the door of a semi-detached house before opening fire. Police said the home was on a cul-de-sac off of Biddick Drive in Keyham, which is close to the Plymouth docks.
Davison then fled the area and made his way to a street, where police believe he began shooting at random people. Davison allegedly killed five people and injured several others before turning the gun on himself.
“We believe we have an incident that is domestically related, that has spilled into the street and seen several people within Plymouth losing their lives in an extraordinarily tragic circumstance,” Devon and Cornwall Police Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer said.
Home Secretary Priti Patel said that Davison’s online activities and the type of firearm he used are being researched as part of the investigation.
“We need to find out the facts, let’s establish the facts behind this and, of course, we will work to do everything to make sure that if there are issues with the online space, post this incident we will look to follow that up.”
