After his wife asked him to come visit her at a medical rehab center, a Texas man allegedly fatally shot her in her wheelchair — and then took his own life.
According to Click2Houston.com, the unidentified woman, who was in her 70s, had recently suffered a stroke and had asked her husband to visit her at NeuroRestorative rehabilitation center in south Houston on Sunday. The man and the woman were reportedly alone in her room when staff there heard what they described as popping noises, but did not recognize the sounds as gunshots. Only later when staff went to check on the room did they find the woman slumped in her wheelchair.
The staff began efforts to revive the woman and discovered that she had suffered from a gunshot wound. They then saw that her husband was lying on the floor, and had also been shot.
Both man and wife were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet commented on a possible motive for the apparent murder-suicide.
This is a developing story.
