Boyfriend Shoots Ex Dead Who ‘Left him Abruptly,’ Then Turns Gun on Her 9-year-old Son: Police

A murder trial for a Kentucky man accused of killing his former girlfriend and her son begins on Monday.

Joshua Ward, 47, is accused of killing 31-year-old Kelli Kramer and her son, Aiden, 9, in 2018. Police said Kramer and the suspect were in a relationship from December 2016 to May 2017, when things ended abruptly for the couple.

According to NBC 5, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents analyzed shell casings found at the crime scene inside Kramer’s Burlington apartment and casings on a farm where Ward practiced shooting.

Police said Ward believed Kelli Kramer was responsible for “destroying him.”  He was arrested a few days after the murders.

“It’s a mixed feeling,” Kelli’s dad, John Kramer, said after Ward’s arrest last year. “The story’s going to come to an end, that’s what we’re happy about. It’s still sad. Time will heal for us. It’s been a long couple months.”

Ward is facing capital murder charges in connection with the deaths. Police said both victims had been shot several times. Local 12 reports that the suspect allegedly “shamed” Kramer after the breakup and harassed family members over the phone.
