A 24-year-old Kentucky man has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed his mother-in-law with a sword.
Erlanger Police said that Nathan Heyob was charged with assault after the Monday evening incident.
Staci Allgeyer, 45, was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment with life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Trentman, said on Tuesday that her mother was recovering after surgery and listed in stable condition.
Heyob is married to another of the victim’s daughters, Virginia, according to her Facebook page.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Allgeyer and Heyob got into an argument and that Allgeyer initially locked herself in a second-floor bedroom. Heyob forced the door open, and then went to another room, where he retrieved the sword.
The police report said that while Heyob went into the other room, Allgeyer went back downstairs and into the dining room, with Heyob following. Police said she told him to get out, but instead he stabbed her with the sword.
Erlanger Police said they located Heyob not far from the home and also found the sword nearby.
