‘Cult Mom’ Lori Vallow: Arizona Child Services FAILED to Investigate Despite School & Police Calls Over Cult Mom’s Children

Seven months before Lori Vallow’s two youngest children died, a report was made to the Arizona Department of Child Safety concerning their welfare, but child services never investigated, according to reports.

In January 2019, Lori Vallow’s then-husband, Charles Vallow, contacted Chandler police when he returned home from a work trip to find his wife’s behavior increasingly bizarre. He noted that he feared for their children’s lives.

The Chandler Police Department recently released emails, according to NBC 12, which indicates that “Charles Vallow shared his concerns with staff at L.I.F.E. Academy in Gilbert.” JJ Vallow, who was Charles Vallow’s son, attended school at L.I.F.E. at the time.

Emails from February 2019 reportedly indicate that the school called police and reported the incident. Chandler police then called child services and made a report. However, child services apparently declined to investigate the incident further as “neither call met the statutory requirements for DCS to open an investigation,” Daily News reports.

“We take every call to our hotline seriously and initiate an investigation for any call that meets our report criteria,” a spokesperson told the outlet.

The department declined to explain why and how the decision to forgo an investigation was reached.

Lori Vallow/Police Handout

JJ Vallow and his teen sister, Tylee Ryan, were last seen alive in September 2019, when Lori Vallow moved them to Rexburg, Idaho. Vallow moved to Idaho with her now-husband, Chad Daybell.

In June 2020, the children’s remains were found buried on Daybell’s property.

Both Lori Vallow and Daybell are facing charges of first-degree murder in connection with the children’s death. Daybell is facing an additional charge of insurance fraud, in connection with the death of his late wife, Tammy Daybell.

Meanwhile, Lori Vallow is facing an additional charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, in connection with Charles Vallow’s death. He passed away in 2020 after Lori Vallow’s brother shot him, reportedly in self-defense.
