A heavily redacted police report says that Gabby Petito’s father was involved in a “public service” incident at the home of her boyfriend the day before the 22-year-old was reported missing.
According to Fox News, Joseph Petito was involved in the incident at the Florida home his daughter and Brian Laundrie shared with his parents. Police arrived at the home at 6:30 p.m. on September 10 and returned twice the next day for follow-ups.
During one of the return trips, investigators seized the 2012 Ford Transit van the couple had taken on their cross country trip.
Gabby Petito and Laundrie began their trip in July. Gabby had been in frequent contact with her family for the first weeks of the trip, but her communication stopped at the end of August, and Laundrie arrived back in Florida — with the van but not Gabby — on September 1.
Joseph Petito has said Gabby’s family didn’t know he had returned until later. Her mother, Nichole Schmidt, filed a missing person report on September 11.
Laundrie is not mentioned in the initial report about the September 10 police call, Fox said, but he’s named twice in reports from September 11.
Joseph Petito told Fox that he was told not to discuss his “previous relationship with Brian.”
