A friend of missing “van life” woman Gabby Petito claims that Brian Laundrie has a charming side, but also a dark side that surfaced through jealousy and “episodes.”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Petito and her boyfriend, Laundrie, embarked on a cross-country road trip this summer, but Laundrie returned to Florida without her, and her whereabouts are not known.
While speaking with DailyMail, Rose Davis said there was an instance she remembered when Laundrie hid Gabby’s identification so she couldn’t go out
“Brian took her ID just so she wouldn’t be able to come out with me,” Davis told DailyMail. “He’s got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these ‘episodes,’ where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn’t sleep.
“Gabby had to stay at my house a bunch of times because she just needed a breather and didn’t want to go home to him.”
Davis told the outlet that when she heard Laundrie returned to his parents’ Florida home without Gabby, she immediately thought of the issues with him she dealt with before.
“When I saw that Brian was back from the trip, that was the first thing that popped into my mind – that Brian had one of his episodes – and I was just hoping he didn’t have a snapping moment.”
Davis, who lives in Sarasota, said she spoke to Gabby in early August and had plans to meet up with her at Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park, but the trip was cut short when Laundrie returned home alone.
Since then, Laundrie lawyered up and refused to cooperate with authorities. He’s now missing and his parents said they have not seen him since Tuesday.
“I used to consider him a friend, for sure, because I’d hang out with them a good amount,” Davis said. “He had this composure as a sweet, nice, caring guy. But you could tell he’s a little off, a little weird. Like, he’d set up our hammocks when we’d go to the beach, but wouldn’t sit with us, which I found bizarre.”
“Brian has a jealousy issue. I’m her only friend in Florida to my knowledge and that’s not because she can’t make friends, he just didn’t want her to have friends.”
Gabrielle Petito is described as a white female with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is reportedly feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds, with several tattoos, including one on her forearm that reads, “Let it be” in cursive.
