Two children, their mother, and a friend are dead after a weekend sleepover, according to police.
According to Derbyshire Police in England, care assistant Terri Harris, 35, her children, Lacey and John, and Lacy’s friend, Connie Gent, were found dead inside Harris’ Chandos Crescent property on Sunday. Investigators are treating all of the deaths as foul play caused by homicide.
The Star reports that officers arrived at the scene after reports of people requesting a welfare check. All of the victims were found deceased inside the home and a male suspect has been arrested, although his identity has not yet been released.
“We would really like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of this morning (Sunday) or has any information which they think could help with our enquiries. No matter how small you think that information may be, please do get in touch with us,” Detective Chief Inspector Rob Routledge said.
Lacey and John’s father, John Bennett, was out of town on vacation when the incident occurred, according to the Guardian.
“We are just heartbroken. They were beautiful, well-mannered kids. Terri was a beautiful mother, a wonderful mother. We are just devastated,” John Bennett’s mother, Debbie said.
Police said there is no threat to the public. John Bennett said he knew the 31-year-old suspect but stated the man’s name wasn’t worth repeating.
“While understandably worrying and upsetting this is believed to be an isolated incident in which those involved were known to one another and nobody else is being sought in connection with the deaths,” Derbyshire police chief constable Rachel Swann said.
