Indiana police are searching for a 14-year-old boy who vanished after leaving home to meet someone in the woods.
Jacob McCarty hasn’t been seen since September 21, after he left his home in Corydon off of Pacer Court, the Howard Country Sheriff’s Office reports. He left to meet someone in a wooded area behind a nearby Walmart but never returned. Family members said he may have been meeting up with someone he played online games with.
“His son has an online gaming presence like many of our children. We believe with the information we collected in this investigation that his son had met someone online and had plans to meet them,” Harrison County Sheriff Nick Smith said.
“We believe that at this point Jacob can’t return, and we need your help.”
Jacob’s father, Jeremiah McCarty, appeared at a press conference this weekend with Smith and pleaded for his son’s return.
“We just ask that if any time that anyone can spend just looking at any camera that they may have, please do it,” Jeremiah McCarty said. “Help me bring him home. Help me bring him home. He’s such a good kid.”
Jacob is described as a white male who stands 5-feet-4-inches tall. He has brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair, and could possibly be wearing red Nike shoes.
