Workers removing invasive species from an Illinois nature preserve found human remains near where a United Airlines executive disappeared last year.
Jake Cefolia, 49, was last seen at a gas station on August 7, 2020, and his Ranger Rover Sport was found parked just outside the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve the following day, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
Weeks of searches turned up no sign of United’s senior vice president of worldwide sales.
Forest Preserve District Police Chief David Pederson told NBC 5 Chicago that the remains were found “hanging from a low hanging tree,” adding that they had decomposed “to the point that you can’t tell who the individual is.”
Pederson added that it wasn’t certain if the body could be positively identified.
