Kentucky police have arrested a woman whose 5-month-old son was reportedly found in the attic of her home on Tuesday.
Kentucky State Police said in a statement that the infant is believed to have died on Monday at his home in Cadiz, though officers did not find him until a day later. The baby’s mother, Shaylynn Curtis, 28, allegedly took her son’s dead body to a friend’s house before returning home, wrapping his body in a blanket, and placing it in the attic.
Friends who were concerned about the infant’s safety ultimately contacted police — who have said that Curtis never called 911 or sought medical attention for her son.
An autopsy was performed on Wednesday, but it is not immediately known how the 5-month-old died. Currently, the mother is charged with abuse of a corpse.
