A Washington state man has been arrested and charged kidnapping and killing his 2-year-old child.

Vancouver Police said they responded just before 1 a.m. Sunday from a woman who said that the father of her toddler had picked up the child sometime Saturday evening and then called her, threatening to harm the child., The Columbian reported.

Investigators issued an Amber Alert at about 2:30, asking for help finding the suspect’s silver, 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. Sometime later, the made contact with the suspect, who turned himself in at about 4:15 a.m.

The toddler was found dead, police said, adding that they believe the child was killed in Gresham, Oregon, a Portland suburb a few miles away. The Gresham Police Department is assisting the investigation.

Vancouver police have not released the names of the suspect or the victim.
