Late actor James Gandolfini’s fiancee died in a tragic swimming pool accident last year, according to friends who recently opened up about the incident.
According to The Sun, 51-year-old Lora Somoza died last year, on July 5, in a “terrible accident” in a swimming pool. Friends reportedly said that Somoza was swimming at her mother’s Los Angeles home when she fell and hit her head, causing fatal injuries.
“Her mother found her — it was horrible, a terrible accident,” Somoza’s friend Zoe Moon told the outlet.
Somoza was engaged to “The Sopranos” actor for several years, but the pair broke up in 2005 after Somoza moved to take care of her grandmother. Friends said the pair stayed in love with each other, despite the breakup.
“They both had a very short life after they broke up so I wish they could have found a way to stay together…She never stopped seeing him as the love of her life and never stopped loving him.”
