A New York man was indicted on Monday, weeks after he allegedly sexually abused and murdered his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son.
Keishawn Gordon, 24, reportedly said he had become “frustrated” and “irked” with Legacy Beauford because he would not stop crying and vomiting. WPIX reported that Gordon had been staying with his 30-year-old girlfriend — whose son was alone with Gordon at the time of the September 9 attack.
Emergency crews reportedly found a bruised Beauford at his mother’s Bronx home. According to the New York Daily News, the mother called 911 after discovering her son unconscious and lying face-up on a bed.
The Medical Examiner’s Office determined Beauford suffered blunt force trauma to his torso and a lacerated liver. Those injuries resulted in the internal bleeding that killed him, according to WPIX.
While Gordon was initially charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, aggravated sex abuse, Monday’s indictment did not include the aggravated sex abuse charge.
Citing officials, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office said in an earlier statement that Gordon had sodomized Beauford with a toothbrush, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
Gordon, who was arrested in September, allegedly told police at some point, “I wasn’t squeezing his stomach that hard. I was holding him up in the air and throwing him.”
Gordon, who appeared in court on Monday, remains jailed without bond.
