An 8-month-old Texas baby died Sunday morning after falling out of a moving vehicle and being struck by another car.

The Irving Police Department is both investigating how the baby fell out of the vehicle driven by the mother and looking for the driver of the black sedan who hit the child without stopping.

Investigators said there was a “high probability” the driver was unaware the infant was struck, WFAA reported.

The incident took place at about 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of North MacArthur Boulevard and Ranchview Drive, according to police. The baby was to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead.

Investigators said at least one other child was in the vehicle at the time.
