A Michigan man has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting his mother while they were riding in a car on Thanksgiving evening.

The unnamed 22-year-old man then reportedly got out of the car and walked away, ultimately firing shots at three passing vehicles, WDIV reported.

One of the gunshots struck a 43-year-old woman in the thigh. She was listed in stable condition after being taken to a hospital.

Police said the man fired at least one shot at his 52-year-old mother, who was found dead in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators said they found the man nearby, along with a 9 mm handgun, and took him into custody.

He’s being held in the Oakland County jail pending charges.
