A Georgia couple has been charged with child cruelty for allegedly leaving their 6-year-old daughter in a filthy bedroom for hours on end.
Tiphanie Lanier, 29, and Joseph Lipscomb, 35, were charged with one count each of first degree cruelty to children, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.
Arrest warrants for the pair described the room as filled with trash and a broken mattress, along with a 2-inch foam mattress topper on which the girl slept.
The warrants say that Lanier and Lipscomb shut the little girl away between late August and early November, apparently to prevent her from interacting with their other children. The girl was let out of the room late at night after the other children had gone to bed.
Police did not release any other information about what led to the couple’s arrest. They are being held without bond, the AJC said.
Lipscomb was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
