A 26-year-old New Jersey woman has been charged with the stabbing death of her 5-month old daughter.
The Salem County Prosecutor’s Office said that dispatchers received an open 911 call — meaning someone called 911 and didn’t say anything — late Friday night. Although the caller didn’t speak, dispatchers heard an “audible disturbance in the background” and sent police to investigate.
Penns Grove police officers arrived on the scene and found Kristhie I. Alcazar arguing with another person. They also found an infant’s body “with visible stab wounds to the chest.”
Investigators recovered multiple knives and other evidence at the scene. The baby’s manner and cause of death were determined to be homicide by multiple stab wounds to the chest area.
No one else on the premises was injured, and the infant’s father was not home at the time of the incident.
Alcazar was charged with murder.
