Cuomo biographer says NY governor ‘ridiculed and belittled’ his wife, leading to 2005 divorce
New York Gov Andrew Cuomo “ridiculed and belittled” wife Kerry Kennedy while the two were married, according to Michael Shnayerson, who wrote an unauthorized biography of the Democratic politician in 2015. Writing in Vanity Fair magazine, Schnayerson quoted unnamed sources saying that Kennedy complained about “enduring this abuse” from her husband and even once slept in a locked bathroom to keep away from him. A spokesman for Cuomo said those allegations were among “all sorts of untrue rumors” that circulated while the Cuomos were divorcing in 2005. Shnayerson also said Cuomo frequently demeaned subordinates and was singularly focused on his career. Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment by at least six women, prompting an investigation from the state attorney general’s office and an impeachment investigation by the legislature.
