Two Mississippi men have been charged with kidnapping and rape in relation to a missing toddler who disappeared on December 30 and was found 15 miles away the next day.
Keldrick J. Magee, 33, has been charged with four counts of rape, one count of sexual battery, and one count of kidnapping, WDAM reported. Kim S. Lodge, 62, was charged with two counts of rape and one count of kidnapping.
They are both being held at the Jefferson Davis County Jail without bond.
“The innocence of a child was lost with this assault,” Jefferson Davis County District Attorney Hal Kitrell said. “An individual that does this, these individuals, I don’t understand the mindset, never have, never will. What I do know is anybody who does this to a child does not deserve to be amongst us.”
The two-year-old boy was reported missing last Thursday evening from Bassfield and was found on Friday walking outside an apartment complex in Sumrall, the Laurel Leader-Call said. Kittrell said investigators were unaware of any connection between the two men and the boy.
