Officer Shot During Activer Shooter Incident at Virginia School, FBI on Scene

A police officer was shot while responding to an active shooter incident Tuesday at Bridgewater College in Virginia.

According to ABC News, an officer was shot while Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office’s deputies were responding to reports of an active shooter at the Bridgewater campus Tuesday.

The officer’s condition is not yet known, but the shooter is in custody, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin said in a statement posted to Twitter.

“I have been briefed on the situation at Bridgewater College. The shooter is in custody and state and local police are on the scene. I will continue to monitor the situation in conjunction with law enforcement,” Youngkin reportedly said.

The FBI is reportedly sending agents to the scene, and officers from Harrisonburg Police Department have also responded.

The report does not indicate any other injuries.
