A North Carolina man accused of abducting a child is facing murder charges after police say he killed the child’s mother inside her Charlotte home on Sunday.
Charlotte police found 3-year-old Marlaya Monet Patterson on Sunday afternoon, following an AMBER Alert issuance. On Monday, police announced the arrest of Corey Patterson, 31, identified as the child’s father. He’s been accused of killing the child’s mother, Jaqusica Wilson, inside her home in the 1600 block of Swan Drive.
According to police, Corey Patterson is accused of killing Wilson before taking the child, WRAL reports. Patterson was arrested Monday and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The victim, in this case, has been identified as 30-year-old Jaqusica Wilson. Her family has been notified of her death. Detectives have charged 29-year-old Corey Patterson for the murder of Jaqusica Wilson. #clt #cltnews

A police source reportedly told News Channel 9 that the murder happened during a domestic violence incident. Police found Patterson with family members and safely located Marlaya with him. She has been reunited with her family.
