North Carolina authorities have now arrested two adults, along with two juveniles previously arrested, for the shooting death of the son of reality TV show “Lizard Lick Towing” star Ronnie Shirley.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Harley Alexander Shirley, 21, was shot and killed on February 17 at a memorial balloon release for a friend who had been killed in a auto crash earlier in the month.
Police said shots were fired at the balloon release, and the suspects fled. After they arrived at the location, police got a call about two gunshot victims at a gas station a few miles away.
There, they found Shirley and a 20-year-old woman, who is reportedly still hospitalized recovering from her injuries.
Investigators arrested a 16-year-old on Saturday and a 17-year-old on Tuesday and charged them with murder and attempted murder. On Friday, they announced they’d arrested 21-year-old Cassidy Lorene Hunter on Thursday and Diana Sarah Jackson, 38, on Friday, WRAL reported.
Hunter has been charged with accessory after the fact and is being held on a $1 million bond. Jackson is charged with obstructing justice and was given a $100,000 bond. Both are being held at the Johnston County Jail.
The teens’ names are being withheld because they’re minors.
Ronnie Shirley’s reality show ran on truTV from 2011 to 2014. He posted a message about his son’s death on Facebook, saying he was “at peace now” and that the family will “aways cheris the times we had while you were with us, son.”
The family also set up a GoFundMe to raise money for a scholarship in their son’s name to help people working to overcome addictions attend a rehab program.
