A South Carolina woman had both arms amputated after three dogs attacked her as she took a walk on Sunday, according to reports.
Abbeville County police who responded to a home found Kyleen Waltman, 38, seriously injured. Waltman’s friend, Tayna Glimer, told WSPA that she was walking to her boyfriend’s house when the dogs attacked her despite her trying to fend them off.
Witnesses reportedly told deputies that they saw three dogs attacking Waltman. A man found Waltman in a ditch during the mauling, according to WYFF.
Waltman’s sister said the man stopped the attack by shooting a gun into the air.
“They pretty much ripped all the meat from her arms, and she has a hole in the back of her head. She has lost her colon. She’s lost both of her arms. She’s going to have to lose her esophagus, and they did save her legs,” Glimer revealed to WSPA.
The dogs’ owner, Justin Minor, was charged with animals/penalty for the owner of dangerous animal attacks and injures a human or owning, selling, breed, etc. for the purpose; having animals not permitted beyond premises unless restrained; and an animal or rabies control violation.
According to Glimer, Waltman is in critical condition but has been stabilized in the ICU.
WYFF reported that animal control has Minor’s dogs — described as two pit bulls and a mixed breed. Deputies said the dogs were not current with their rabies shots.
Majors’ bond was set at $15,000. He is due back in court in May.
