A Queens mother went out the night before her body was found stuffed into bloody duffel bag and left on a New York street.
A police source told the New York Daily News that 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal returned to her Forest Hills home at about 11 p.m. Friday night.
“And at 4:30 in the morning, somebody’s pulling that bag down the street,” the source said.
Police said that surveillance footage showed “an unknown individual” dragging the wheeled bag down the street, according to the New York Post.
A neighbor told the Daily News he saw Gaal in her backyard earlier Friday evening.
“The son came out, Friday was quite nice,” said John Blankson, who lives next door. “We were outside. We didn’t actually speak to her — we were just chilling outside — but she was outside with the dog.
A dog-walker found the duffel bag at about 8 a.m. Saturday morning, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Police said a blood trail led about a half a mile back to Gaal’s home, where they found her 13-year-old son alone in the house.
According to the Daily News, the boy was found on the top floor of the house, and police took him away in handcuffs, but he was later released.
The newspaper said that investigators don’t believe the boy was responsible for his mother’s death, and her husband, businessman Howard Klein, and the couple’s 17-year-old son were allegedly out of state on college tours for the boy.
It’s not clear if police have confirmed the two were actually in Oregon, as a now deleted tweet said.
Police said they believe the duffel bag came from inside the home.
The Daily News source said the investigators were looking at video and searching for credit card transactions, trying to trace her movements the night before her death. The source also said they’re delving into phone and financial records.
But a source told the Post that investigators are already talking with the friends Gaal went out with on Friday night.
“She knew the people she was out with,’’ the source said. “We’re talking to them. We also have to figure out, did she meet some mysterious stranger along the way?”
It wasn’t clear on Sunday if Klein and the couple’s older son had returned to New York.
