An Ohio couple was reportedly murdered earlier this month while visiting family in Mexico in a slaying that remains unsolved weeks later.
Leticia Carrillo and Miguel Abrego, 48 and 49, were fatally shot on a highway in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, on April 7. According to KMSP, a local Mexican newspaper Milenio reported that a group of gunmen on motorcycles approached the couple’s pickup truck and opened fire.
Carrillo and Abrego are from Coon Rapids, Minnesota. They reportedly owned a cleaning business.

A motive has not yet been disclosed. Carrillo and Abrego’s family told WCCO that police said they are investigating the slayings.
“That’s where a lot of the anger comes from, not having those answers, not having the information that we need,” the victims’ niece commented. “We don’t have that peace of mind.”
