Investigators in New York are now examining Orsolya Gaal’s relationships with several men in their search for whoever stabbed her to death and left her body in a bloody duffel bag on a Queens street.
High ranking police sources say that detectives believe Gaal was killed by someone she knew, WCBS reports.
Gaal, 51, went out with friends Friday night to see a show at Lincoln Center and afterward returned home. Then she went to a bar nearby, where she sat alone for nearly an hour before again returning home, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Investigators believe she was killed in the living room and her body brought down into the basement.
Hours later, a dog-walker found the duffel bag, and a doorbell video captured someone dragging the wheeled bag down the street at about 4:30 a.m.
The sources told WCBS that investigators are looking into Gaal’s relationships, including a possible past romantic link to at least one man. Those links were uncovered during an examination of Gaal’s electronic communications.
The victim had more than 50 stab wounds on her left arm, torso, neck, carotid artery, trachea, palms, and fingers.
Gaal’s husband, Howard Klein, said that he had received a text message threatening him and the couple’s children, indicating they had been jailed at some time in the past because of Gaal. Klein was reportedly out of state with the couple’s oldest son visiting colleges at the time of the incident.
