Three people are in custody and a 3-month-old California baby is safe after a Monday afternoon kidnapping in San Jose.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, federal investigators joined state and local police in the search for Alexis Cuellar, who was taken from his grandmother’s home as she unloaded groceries from her car Monday afternoon.
Investigators said the grandmother was watching over the baby while his mother was at work and took him with her when she went shopping. She returned at about 1 p.m.
“She took the baby in the apartment, went downstairs to unload some groceries, in that short about of time, someone entered the apartment — you guys have the images and the video of this person — and left with the baby,” San Jose Police Sgt. Christian Camarillo told reporters.
Baby Brandon has been located. He will be taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.
Three suspects in custody, charges and additional information forthcoming.

On Tuesday afternoon, San Jose police tweeted three people have been taken into custody after the baby was found safe, and taken for a medical checkup as a precaution.
Camarillo said the family didn’t recognize the man who took the baby. His father is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.
“We have some of the finest detectives in the nation. Nobody went home yesterday. In less than 24 hours he was located, and three suspects are being held,” San Jose police tweeted.
“Thank you FBI. We appreciate all the help.”
