A Texas man was arrested last Tuesday, months after he allegedly sexually assaulted his girlfriend’s 7-year-old daughter.
On August 8, the victim’s mother reportedly called 911 after finding Delmer Orlando Ortiz Licona, 29, naked in bed with her daughter. The woman told the dispatcher that Licona lives there but he was trying to flee by jumping a fence, KCBD reported.
The mother allegedly stated, “Hurry up or I’m going to kill him. I’m going to f**king kill him. Please hurry, please hurry. I’m fixing to kill him, hurry please, please hurry, please f**king hurry.
According to KCBD, the 911 dispatcher overheard the mother telling her daughter to get into the car. She reportedly told the dispatcher that she was following Licona before the dispatcher heard a loud thud that sounded like someone being hit by a car.
“Please get an ambulance,” someone was overheard saying during the 911 call.
The mother allegedly claimed that Licona jumped in front of her car and that he was passed out drunk. When 911 called the woman back, she was overheard interrogating Licona about what he did to her daughter, KCBD reported.
In March, the 7-year-old girl provided specific details about the sexual assault for a forensic interview. The following month, Licona allegedly refused to speak with authorities about the allegations and was a no-show for scheduled interviews with investigators.
It is not immediately known why it took seven months for an investigation to be opened into last year’s incident.
On May 3, an arrest warrant was issued for Licona, who is charged in Lubbock County with aggravated sexual assault. He remains jailed on an immigration retainer.
