An Arizona man has been charged with murder in the the shooting death of his girlfriend.
Jason Warnock, 36, allegedly shot 31-year-old Skylar Hughes and then took her to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for treatment, Prescott Police said, but it was too late.
KSAZ reported that hospital personnel called police at about 10:30 p.m. Monday.
“Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim, Skylar Hughes, a 31-year-old female, had suffered a single gunshot wound and shortly thereafter, died as a result of her injury,” police said.
“Warnock and Hughes had been living together in a travel trailer … where the incident took place. Warnock admitted to shooting Hughes and later transporting her to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased,” police added.
In addition to a first degree murder charge, Warnock also faces one count of misconduct involving weapons.
Police have not revealed what led to the shooting. Two days before her death, Hughes posted a photo to Facebook of Warnock and her dog. “My family My world,” she wrote. “Don’t know what I’d do without you two.”
