A 10-month-old Texas girl died on Friday after she was left in car for several hours as Houston temperatures soared into the lower 90s.
Houston Police said the baby’s mother had left her in a car seat Friday morning and realized her mistake at about 1:30 p.m.
“Once the mother realized she had left the infant in the vehicle, she returned and found her unresponsive,” police said in a statement.
The mother rushed the girl to HCA Houston Healthcare, where the baby was pronounced dead.
Houston police said they were referring the incident to a Harris County grand jury.
Investigators have not released the identity of the baby pending notification of family members.
The baby’s death would be the third this year from being left in a hot car after a 1-year-old boy died on Thursday when a day care worker left him in a vehicle outside a Memphis day care center, as CrimeOnline previously reported.
