A 7-year-old girl was shot and killed near downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, Saturday morning, but police have yet to release much information about the incident.
KLRT reported that the incident took place near the intersection of Interstate 630 and Fair Park Boulevard just before 11 a.m. Investigators closed down the highway exit westbound while they searched for shell casings and other evidence.
The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office told KLRT the victim was a 7-year-old girl but provided no further information, and by later in the afternoon, the office would not confirm the victim’s age or gender to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Police spokesman Mark Edwards said investigators were making sure they had correct information before they released any at all, the newspaper said, He said later Saturday that the victim was in a vehicle when hit by gunfire and taken to a hospital in the same vehicle.
As of Saturday night, no suspects had been identified, and no arrests had been made.
