Oklahoma police said they arrested a woman on Tuesday after finding her 3-year-old granddaughter deceased in a trash can.
Oklahoma City police discovered Riley Lynn Nolan dead in a home after receiving a tip. Police said her body had obvious signs of trauma — leading Becky Vreeland, 60, to be charged with first-degree murder, police said in a statement.
Vreeland is Nolan’s grandmother and she got custody of her several months earlier, according to police.
Vreeland is also charged with child neglect. Authorities have not disclosed how the toddler died.
