According to Fox News, Leaford Anderson, 53, was indicted Thursday on second-degree murder in connection with the death of Edward Lee Brooks. Anderson was the manager of a south Memphis rooming house where Brooks lived.

Prosecutors said several hours later, as the argument continued, Anderson used a machete to cut the victim in the head, face, forearms and left leg. Brooks reportedly died at the scene after first responders found him unresponsive in a hallway.
The Times Union reports that according to the police affidavit, Anderson told investigators he was defending himself after Brooks attacked him.
