Three children are dead and two other injured during a domestic disturbance Friday night that involved a house fire and woman trying to stab people inside a Georgia home.
Deputies and firefighters found seven children at the house, two of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other children were taken to hospitals — two with burns and one with a leg injury from jumping out a second story window. One of those three children died at the hospital, WSB reported.
Two more children were not injured. Officials have not released the names or ages of any of the children.
Deputies located 40-year-old Darlene Brister — the woman described in the 911 call as trying to stab people — and took her into custody. She is being charged with two counts of malice murder, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said, and more charges are likely. She is being held without bond.
Fire officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
A neighbor, Edward Springer, told WXIA that the family had lived in the house for years.
“They stayed to their self, Springer said. “Kids come outside to play — (they were) very good, very respectful … I just don’t understand it. I don’t understand it.”
