Alabama investigators have learned that a popular TikTok star’s son was selling marijuana when he was shot to death at a gas station on Friday night.
Ophelia Nichols, known on TikTok as @shoelover99 and by her 7 million followers as Mama Tot, posted a tearful plea for information over the weekend about Randon Lee’s shooting death, as CrimeOnline previously posted.
“Today would have been my baby child’s 19th birthday, but he was took from me last night. Took from my children and my husband and our family,” she said on Saturday. “My son was murdered. He was shot.”
Prichard Police Detective Jason Hadaway said at a news conference on Monday that investigators have two suspects in mind, seen in surveillance video pulling up to gas station pumps around the same time as Lee, WALA reported. The suspects got out of their vehicle and into Lee’s, Hadaway said, where they shot him.
The suspects fled in a black SUV, Hadaway said, and Lee drove across the street to another gas station, where he was found dead.
Hadaway said that Lee and suspects knew one another.
“We do know at this time that Mr. Lee did have a relationship as far as selling to different individuals,” Hadaway said. “These two individuals had bought from him in the past.”
Hadaway said that Lee had not been on their radar as selling marijuana in Prichard.
