‘They can’t show me his body’: Beloved Husband Eaten Alive by Pack of Pit Bulls in Neighborhood

A Missouri wife is mourning the loss of her husband, who was eaten alive by a pack of pit bulls over the weekend, in an attack so gruesome that officials didn’t show the victim’s body to his family.

According to CBS 5, the incident happened in the 4800 block of San Francisco Avenue in St. Louis, at some point between “Saturday at 11:30 p.m. and Sunday at 6:30 a.m.” Police said officers who responded to the scene found Dennis Moore, 62, deceased in an alley.

“The dogs ate him up to the point where his body was decayed, they can’t show me his body. They didn’t eat his head up,” Moore’s wife, Melvina Moore, told NBC 5.

On the same night, a 92-year-old neighbor was attacked by the dogs while taking out the trash. The victim was taken to an area hospital with large dog bites. The victim’s name and condition are not known at this time.

Animal control workers later found three pit bulls that matched the description of dogs who had attacked others in the area. St. Louis Animal Control reportedly confirmed that three dogs were seized. The animals are currently being housed at the animal shelter.

Melvina said her husband was a retired landscaper who helped the elderly in the neighborhood by cutting their grass, adding that he was the perfect husband who took in her children as his own.

“I mean, to take in a woman with seven kids, just think about it. This was a lot for him, because he ain’t have nothing but three kids,” she said.

Melvina is now hoping to secure the funds to give her husband a proper burial. For more information on how to donate, contact Melvina at freshwindbasket@gmail.com.
