8-Year-Old Boy Wounded in Highway Road Rage Shooting

An 8-year-old Texas boy was wounded late Sunday afternoon when a suspected road rager targeted a vehicle carrying three children.

The incident happened on Interstate 20 in Balch Springs, near Dallas, WFAA reported.

The boy was hit by a bullet in his hip and taken to a Dallas hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

The other two children, ages 1 and 5, were also taken to the hospital, apparently hit by glass or other fragments, police said.

Bullets also struck a second vehicle, but there were no injuries in that car.

Police described the driver of the suspect vehicle as a Hispanic man with a thin build and goatee wearing an orange shirt, KTVT reported. The shooter was described as a heavy-set Hispanic man, and the vehicle was said to be a dark sedan.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and may have information is asked to call police at 972-557-6000.
